This class will teach beginner students how to paint with acrylic paints and learn the basics of technique, elemental usage, and composition from preliminary steps to finished painting. Students will gain a basic understanding of color, value, types of paints, and mixing colors, and general artistic processes. Students will study the effects of colors (warm and cool) and how to use them before creating thumbnail sketches to determine composition and value. Students will apply knowledge to create finished acrylic paintings and participate in active discussion in this class.

About the Instructor
Sue Greenfield holds a degree in Visual Communications with studies in fine art, illustration, and graphic art, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Management. She is an artist and illustrator with a strong interest in composition, color, light, and visual storytelling. She is an active member in the local art community in MD and PA and enjoys capturing light and color in landscapes through plein air painting.
