I am an artist with a disability. I mention this only because being in a wheelchair has a big impact on my choice of subject matter as well as the techniques that I employ to create the final image. Although I enjoy photographing many subjects, my most successful images are that of the human figure. The human body comes in a variety of shapes and sizes and is just as interesting to photograph as a landscape. The techniques I’ve used over the years include traditional film, digital and in more recent years, a combination of the two. Periodically, I’ve been utilizing a technique some refer to as Scanography.

The photographers who have influenced me are too numerous to mention, but Edward and Brett Weston, Jan Saudek, and the photographers who were active in the Pictorialist Movement come to mind.

Many artists have Artist Statements that sometimes go to great lengths with regards to explaining what motivates them and I don’t doubt their sincerity. However, I’m not one of them. I’m motivated simply by the desire to create art and have fun at the same time.  I don’t have a deep philosophical reason for what I do and trying to express myself in such a way would sound contrived.

I currently reside in Littlestown, PA with my wife and two cats.

If anyone is interested in modeling nude for me for my artistic pursuits or just for yourself, I can be contacted by email or through my website at craig-sheely.pixels.com.

Thank you for your interest and for taking the time to view my work.
