A member of Carroll County Arts Council, Hanover Area Arts Guild, and York Art Association, Gail continues to enter her oils and watercolors in each of these locations.
Gail, a resident of Glen Rock, grew up on a Carroll County Maryland dairy farm, where she took an early interest in drawing. To compliment high school art classes, she enrolled in an artist correspondence program, then in the 1970’s Gail took lessons from Shirley Lippy in Westminster. Raising two children kept her occupied while working full time. In 2002 her personal life brought her to Pennsylvania, and she enrolled in some classes at York Arts Association.
Retirement gave Gail the opportunity to create, but true commitment and a dedicated space to paint were still absent. When New York Wire Works began refurbishing the York, PA spaces, she decided it was time for her own studio. The large windows and beautiful old wood floors gave her needed inspiration and incentive. Here nestled a little slice of creative therapy with other artists and entrepreneurs.
A member of Carroll County Arts Council, Hanover Area Arts Guild, and York Art Association, Gail continues to enter her oils and watercolors in each of these locations. Some of her work can be found in her Designs by Wine Facebook account, and her Winestress Instagram account. Commissions have furthered her artistic growth, as she continues to work on personal painting endeavors. Although still life and landscapes are her usual subjects, she enjoys the challenge of portraits and figure drawing/painting. Three seasons of the year, gardening fills the time between paintings.
